Hibernation? No way! The festival season 2016 might be over, but hibernation has no space in our lodge’s life. After the festival is before the festival. So they say and our lodges aren’t stay-at-homes or couch potatoes. They prefer to get out and do something! What we are up to this winter? Read on!

What is MyMolo up to between the festival seasons?

After our festival lodges have survived Punk festivals, non-stop rain and heat waves, it is the winter that tests them on how tuff they really are: Our Molos are – thanks to the latest installation of a heating – a cozy home during the cold winter months. Qbe Hotels – a hotel from Berlin, which is specialized in unusual living concepts, offers our lodges to tourists during autumn and spring. Since the beginning of November 2016 our lodges are standing alongsinde with live-in towers, live-in containers and accommodation cubes in the heart of Berlin. “All our rooms are completely booked out during the holiday season.“, Qbe-founder Matthias Kiesel explains.

Molos in one of the most outstanding hotels

„The usual way of accommodation is nothing for us“, Kiesel sais about this exceptional hotel-concept, which, according to Marco Polo, is one out of 10 of the most outstanding hotels in Germany. Opened in 2014, the hotel is located only 20 minutes from the city center on a former GDR military base, close to the S-Bahn station Friedrichsfelde Ost. Guests can spend the night either in cylindrical towers, or in our MyMolo lodges. Compared to the prices for usual accommodations in Berlin, the prices here are a true bargain.

Pilot project: Lodges as emergency shelter

mymolo_kaeltehilfe_caritasEverybody in need with nowhere to go for the night is welcome to stay at the Church St. Pius in Friedrichshain. These shelters provide a save place and protection against the cold night during the winter season. Four of our lodges are used as emergency shelters by the church St. Piuskirche in a pilot project until March. Enough space to keep four homeless men warm for the night and offer them a space of privacy with their own bed. At 6 pm the doors of the lodges open, after that they can get something to eat, have a warm dinner until 10 pm, bedtime at the church. Sleeping hours are until 8 am, that’s when they have to give back the keys for the lodges. The Berliner Zeitung, the Tagesspiegel and also Focus Online have already published stories about this project. TV channels such as “N24” and “rbb” have mentioned us in their daily TV shows.
