Gone with the wind: When the sun hits the ground on the German island Fehmarn and the wind starts to blow, kitesurfers are starting to move their kites. The island, located in the Baltic Sea, will turn into a mecca for kitesurf fans and host this years Mercedes-Benz Kitesurf Worldcup 2017 in August. And My Molo is going to be part of it!
Who would have thought that this cute and quite little island could ever become a hot spot for kitesurfers from all around the world!?!
Between the 18th and 27th August 2017, around 100.000 visitors will flock to see the sport event at Fehmarn this year. Numerous additional events will also catch the interest of non-kite-surf-fans. The Der Kitesurf World Cup has existed for eleven years now. Until 2015, the event took place in St. Peter-Ording. Last year it got shifted to the southern beach of Fehmarn. Around 100.000 visitors are coming every year to be part of the event and see the Kitesurf World Cup. This year the event is dated in the middle of the summer holiday season, so that the organizers expect more visitors than ever.
Where pros and visitors clink glasses
The biggest Kite-Surf-Event is always a perfect spot for the best Kitesurfers (Hadlow, Zoon, Whaley, Kajiya, etc.) and numerous producers for Kite-Surf-Equipment to shake hands and catch up. At the so-called “Kite Surf Testival” the latest products and materials of the producers can be tested during the day, while the evenings can be used for Live-Act performances and a great party. The event itself is a sport-event and it is important for the organizers that pros and guests get together. A little talk with the world champion, an after-work beer with the best kitesurfers of the world – clinking glasses with the top! No problem. Most of the athletes are at the beach or on the event ground most of the time. Some of them are sleeping in a caravan or on the camping ground, too. According to the organizers, this fact creates a unique feeling of togetherness.
Kitesurf World Cup Camping
Due to the fact that hotel rooms and motels are completely booked out during the holiday season, people have to switch to use tents for their nightly accommodations. The event’s camping ground can be found right next to the Kitesurf World Cup’s event area, only a few steps away from the beach. For the first time, this year’s visitors are able to book one of our lodges, which will be located on the camping ground.
Address: Südstrand/Höhe Fehmare (South Beach/Fehmare)
What can you expect from our lodges? Well, beside a very comfortable bed for two with the amazing eve mattresses, a fan, a fridge with enough space for delicious cold beer, a power supply for your technical devices and, of course, cosy deckchairs for the perfect tan are waiting for you. Toilets and showers are close by, too. The package of the so-called Driver Ticket also includes a pitch/tent site of 30 to 50 sqm, accreditation for one person, free of charge utilization of the sanitary facilities and the local fee of 1.80 EUR/day for holiday from the town Fehmarn.
